 elcome
to the Latin American Studies Program (LASP), a semester long
study-abroad program of the Council
for Christian Colleges and Universities
based in San José, Costa Rica.
As you probably know, LASP is designed for Christian students
who are learning to integrate their faith and values with new
knowledge and experience within the Latin American context.
This
is encouraged each semester in student participants via learning,
living, serving and traveling while they are at LASP. If you'd
like to know more about this program please see >>
|
This
particular website is dedicated to participants of LASP and
their friends and family who
want to be kept in the loop about the various things going on
during this time abroad. We encourage you to check out our monthly
updates with different photos and write-ups from current LASPers.

Over the course of their four months at LASP, students
spend 4 weeks studying Spanish intensively at a language institute.
During that time they will also be attending classes 2-3 times
a week as part of LASP's Core Seminar. After the first month
the students leave to spend two weeks in Nicaragua where they
interact with different speakers who talk about the issues of
that country and spend a week living with a host family - learning
from the people themselves. |
They return to Costa Rica to finish up this Core part of their
semester. The students then study in one of four concentrations:
International Business (Fall), Environmental Science (Spring),
Advanced Language & Literature, or Latin American Studies. The
semester ends with a two week trip to Guatemala. We will keep
you up-to-date throughout the semester, sharing with you photos
and reflections from the students' time here. Stay tuned.
